From the age of ten Liza was playing the guitar and performing regularly at her local folk club. She quickly realised that being a singer was all she really wanted to be.
As soon as her educational studies were completed she travelled extensively abroad in the duo “Two-Gether”; performing in the Channel Islands, Canary Islands, Portugal and Bavaria.
Upon returning to the UK she joined forces with some fine musicians to become “The Liza Marshall Band”; performing in country music clubs and festivals both in the UK and in Europe.
After this she formed a duo with Dean Barnes on electric guitar and they soon expanded to become “The Smokey Turtle Band” featuring Hannah Cope on bass guitar and Ed Gallagher on Dobro. They could be found performing in various well known live music venues in an around London. Dean sadly passed away May 2017 and will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him.
Liza and Hannah went on to form a trio with Simon Bishop on electric guitar and can be found, once again, performing in various well known live music venues in and around London. Their unique chosen style sets them apart from many other acts out there. Original and classic popular songs stripped back and played acoustically in the style of americana, country, folk and blues.
Liza is very passionate about her art. She expresses herself through songwriting and is excited to be able to perform with a multitude of talented musicians in several different line-ups. She is very thankful for these opportunities and can be found at present performing either solo, as part of a duo, trio or band.
One of these alliances is with Spencer Couzens on electric guitar but more recently they have expanded and with the addition of Craig Broadfoot on keyboards, Dickie Baldwin on bass and Deano Robinson on drums they have formed the “Marshall Couzens Band”. Playing originals and classic songs in the syle of country, southern rock, folk and blues they can be found in venues and festivals mainly in and around the Berkshire area.
Liza has also worked as back up singer for various artists including “George Hege Hamilton V”. She has also had the privilege of appearing on various recordings including on an album with “Luke Guy Reed” in which one of the album tracks has been credited in the 2013 movie Bad Turn Worse. Currently she can be heard providing vocals, rhythm guitar and percussion occasionally for “Oye Santana”, award winning Carlos Santana Tribute Band.
